de Toledo Hosts Israeli Teens Affected by Terrorism

This past week, we experienced an incredibly moving and heartfelt day here at de Toledo High School, as Congressman Brad Sherman (D-32), Los Angeles City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and other dignitaries joined us on campus to welcome the twelve inspirational Israeli teenagers we have been hosting at our school and in our community.

All twelve teens – who hail from towns located in close proximity to the Gaza Strip – endured immense personal trauma on or since the terror attacks of October 7th. Some lost friends, others lost family members, and many were evacuated and displaced from their homes.

During this emotional Solidarity Ceremony, four of the Israeli students shared details about their personal experiences on October 7th, with Congressman Sherman presenting an American flag flown over the US Capitol.

As part of de Toledo’s unique Global Jewish Education program, and in partnership with World ORT, we have brought these brave Israeli students to our community for physical and psychological respite, to begin the process of recovery and recuperation, as well as to connect with their peers here at dTHS.
