Hillel Rabbi Engages dTHS Students on Being Jewish at College
As part of de Toledo’s annual Arieh Diamond Memorial Speaker Series, we were thrilled to host on campus today Rabbi Adam Naftalin-Kelman, the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation Executive Director of Hillel at UC Berkeley.
In his profoundly passionate and engaging remarks during today’s all-school Town Hall, Rabbi Naftalin-Kelman shared firsthand insights about what life is like at the moment for Jewish students on college campuses, explained how Jewish affiliation and identity has become more expansive and inclusive, and then engaged in a dynamic Q&A session with our students – fielding a huge amount of questions! It was great to see such lively participation from everyone!
Arieh Diamond, z”l, was a beloved student in our second pioneering class who lost his life during his freshman year at Rutgers University. In his memory, his parents established this Speaker Series at dTHS, bringing prominent members of the Jewish community to talk to our school each year about Israel and Judaism. Arieh’s two brothers, Jacob and Raffi, are also distinguished graduates of de Toledo.
