GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Class size is limited, and enrollment and scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • dTHS reserves the right to cancel any offerings due to under-enrollment or other circumstances.
  • dTHS will notify all registrants of final course/class decisions as follows:
    • JUNE 10 Summer School Semester 1, Camp Eco-Botics, Summer Spark, Summer Sports
    • JUNE 26 Summer School Semester 2, Camp Eco-Botics, Summer Spark, and Summer Sports
  • FORMS
    • dTHS requires the following documents to have a “wet signature.” Please print, sign, and return the required Registration Agreement and Emergency Medical Form. These forms must be mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered to dTHS by June 7. Upon completion of registration the relevant links will be emailed to you, also, as a reminder.
    • dTHS STUDENTS ONLY : dTHS requires the following documents to have a “wet signature.” Please print, sign, and return the required Course Approval form for academic classes.

REFUND POLICY

  • If a student withdraws on or before May 11, 2018, 100% of the course fees will be refunded. The $100 registration fee will not be refunded.
  • If a student withdraws between May 12 and June 18, 40% of the course fee(s) will be refunded. The $100 registration fee will not be refunded.
  • If a student withdraws for any reason on June 19 or any time thereafter, no refund(s) will be authorized.
  • If a student is dismissed or terminated from the course, no refund(s) will be authorized.
  • dTHS will notify all registrants of final course/class decisions as follows: June 10-Summer School Semester 1, Summer Spark, Summer Sports, and Camp Eco-Botics June 26- Summer School Semester 2, Summer Sports, and Camp Eco-Botics
  • A full 100% refund will be made in all cases when a class is cancelled by the school. The registration fee will also be refunded, if you registered for only the one cancelled class.

ATTENDANCE / TARDY POLICY / PACING

  • Due to the large volume of material covered, daily attendance is required. Three 10-minute tardies or 2 absences per session for any reason may result in dismissal from the course.
  • Students who arrive more than 30 minutes late will be considered absent. Teachers will keep daily attendance. There will be no refunds in cases where students are dismissed or terminated from the course.
  • Summer School classes are conducted with a short schedule in mind. Therefore, to help optimize success, students should be prepared to work both in school and at home in order to master the material. Some students will need additional tutoring outside of the summer class, so families should plan accordingly.

TRANSPORTATION

There is no dTHS bus transportation available for Summer 2018. Parking and driving information will be provided to all registered students. The campus is available for student drop-off beginning at 7:30am.

DRESS CODE

Summer Session dress is informal but must be tasteful and modest in nature. The school reserves the right to decide if students are appropriately dressed. No provocative or revealing attire may be worn. No torn clothes, bare feet, or bare midriffs are acceptable.

LUNCH / SNACKS

Students may bring snacks or lunch onto campus. Students are discouraged from bringing non-kosher food onto campus. Vending machines are available on campus.

ACADEMIC CREDIT AND TRANSCRIPT INFORMATION

  • All academic classes are UC and CSU approved as indicated in the course descriptions.
  • dTHS STUDENTS: Please review the “Course Approval Process 2018” letter. If you receive a “D” in a course, we STRONGLY urge you to remediate this course to ensure your eligibility to apply to colleges including the University of California and/or the California State University systems. The UC and CSU Systems require grades of “C-” or higher. dTHS summer school courses will be reported directly on your high school transcript and factored into your GPA.
  • NON-dTHS STUDENTS: Please speak with your respective college counselors. dTHS will provide transcripts upon written request.

TEXTBOOKS

Students/parents are responsible for purchasing textbooks through an outside vendor, MBS Direct. Their website will be available starting May 18 for online ordering.

LOCKERS

Due to our summer cleaning efforts, lockers are not available over the summer for students

STUDENT IDs

We are a controlled access campus and all of our students are required to be in possession of a picture student ID.   All returning dTHS students should keep their existing IDs for access. For any new dTHS students or students joining us from other schools, students should visit the main office on their first day (after class or Sports or Spark or Eco-Botics) and have their pictures taken. The student IDs usually take 1 day to turn around and we will give teachers the ID cards to distribute back to any students who are in need of one. Students should then make sure they are in possession of their ID each time they are on campus.

PARKING, DROP OFF/PICKUP

There is no dTHS bus transportation available for Summer 2018. The campus is available for student drop-off beginning at 7:30AM. Parking spots are available for student drivers. We will ask students to park on Level 1 of our parking structure and obey all requests from our security officials. Please inquire in the office on your first day for the paperwork needed to park on campus. Students will be issued parking placards on their first day of class that must be returned after their last class. Per our Conditional Use Permit, families and students are asked to enter our campus heading Eastbound on Vanowen. Left turns into the campus heading Westbound on Vanowen are prohibited. Turning onto neighboring streets and making U-Turns are also prohibited. Please respect our neighbors.

CAMP DESCRIPTION:

Camp Eco-Botics couples classic summer fun in the garden, pool, and art room with futuristic tinkering in our high-tech Maker Space. Students who want to spend their summer frolicking, playing games, learning about sustainable gardening and cooking, making art, swimming, and practicing yoga, but who also want to build robots, learn engineering principles, and make objects with 3D printers, will love this program. Taken together, students are engaged with a “Learn-by-Doing” approach and will develop a detailed appreciation for nature and wellness, as well as new skills in engineering disciplines.
