College Counseling

College Counseling

The philosophy of the de Toledo High School College Counseling Department mirrors the overall philosophy of the school: we strive for excellence. In our view, excellence in college counseling is achieved when students, possessing a vast array of individual differences, are effectively matched with particular colleges/universities. Such an outcome, we believe, can only result via a highly personalized guidance process for each student.

We have a professional college counseling staff that is known within CA and throughout the country for their contributions to the field. They have held leadership positions in professional organizations and won awards for their contributions to the field.

The college counseling team visits colleges and attends conferences every year to stay up to date on current trends in admissions and opportunities for our students and they have relationships with hundreds of college admission officers throughout the country.

The de Toledo High School College Counseling program:

• Provides highly individualized counseling throughout the entire college application process that reflects students’ interests, personality, and intellectual goals.

• Provides colleges with a comprehensive view of each student, made possible by the intimate nature of our school and College Counseling staff-student ratio.

• Actively conveys the unique attributes of each student to college admissions officers.

• Facilitates the creation of in-depth letters of recommendation from faculty and college counselors, which are highly regarded by college admissions officers.

• Hosts over 100 college representatives and Gap Year programs on campus to meet with our students.

de Toledo High School’s academic curriculum prepares all of our students for a college/university education and our college counseling department helps each student find their unique path. Whether this path leads to a campus within the University of California or California State University systems, an Ivy League University, a small liberal arts college, an art or technical institute, a college in Israel, a two-year community college, or the military, each student is supported and advised throughout his/her journey.
