Alumni Spotlight: Austin Beer (’06)

12.03 Alumni Spotlight: Austin Beer (’06)

Austin is currently working in NYC, living in Brooklyn. He is a Creative Director at Interlude, an interactive video start up founded by Israeli rock star, Yoni Bloch. His job is to come up with ideas for new implementations for interactive video. He writes and edits many of the videos, as well as develops the technical processes for making them happen. He was very inspired by the faculty he had here at NCJHS.

He was very excited to share his latest project with us! He worked first hand on Bob Dylan’s new music video for “Like a Rolling Stone” (http://video.bobdylan.com/desktop.html). He helped develop how users would actually experience the video, and sync’ing/formatting/transcoding/uploading all of the videos (over 8 thousand unique videos!).

Here is the New York Times article explaining the Bob Dylan music video Austin had such a big part in creating: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/11/19/a-bob-dylan-video-47-years-in-the-making/

To fill us in on his life now he says, “I’ve been struggling to build an autonomous drone to deliver Pad Thai faster, and playing a lot of Kickball. Before all of this, I was in Los Angeles working at the now bankrupt Atari.”

Austin is still hanging out with his fellow NCJHS alums: David Lesnik (’06) and Danielle Tarasiuk (’06).
