Some of our students had the honor of an exclusive guided tour through the SpaceX facility. Surrounded by space shuttles physically being built around them, engines and capsules welded and evaluated, our students walked through the future of space travel. With 40 launches planned for 2014, SpaceX is bustling with young, innovative engineers and professionals. Just when our students’ grins were stretching ear to ear, Garrett Reisman, a NASA astronaut who has helped to build the international space station (and a cousin of one of our students), came to chat with our students! He is currently developing the newest space-wear, and working on building plans for SpaceX’s first manned shuttles (estimated to begin testing in two years). Our students left feeling energized and inspired by the potential they just witnessed, with their eyes gazing at space!
