Mr. David Suissa, President of the Jewish Journal of Los Angeles, was this year’s featured speaker at our annual Arieh Diamond Memorial Lecture Series. Mr. Suissa is a passionate Jewish advocate, community leader, and avid story collector/storyteller. His main messages to students: “Create your own Jewish story to pass down to the generations and connect it to the larger Jewish story. Get out of yourself and tell your story; know that setbacks are part of your story so embrace them. The Jewish people brought the idea of “forward progress” to the world. All of one’s activities are components of one’s story that pushes one forward.” He urged students videotape their grandparents to learn their families’ stories and from where their ancestors came.
